NV Mionetto “IL” ProseccoThis beer-capped bottle of tasty Italian bubbly is made for outdoor sipping. It is very light in color but delivers with a fair amount of fruit and a nearly dry finish. What that means in “non-wine speak” is that you need to pick up five or six bottles this weekend, call up a dozen of your friends and drink this delicious, fizzy treat in the sun. It will be one of the best decisions you make all summer.

This vino is great solo, but there are many bubbly “cocktails” that can be made as a pre-dinner drink or an afternoon libation. Mix with fresh peach puree and you have yourself a Bellini. If mashing peaches seems doesn’t interest you simply mix with a splash of high quality fruit juice. Otherwise, throw in a finger or two of a liqueur like Pama or St. Germain. The possibilities are endless and “failing” only means it’s time to mix another drink.

Pair with a light pasta dish, grilled fish and lots of friends.
