We’ve included this because it totally rocks (like totally), it’s crazy inexpensive (come on, nine bucks?) but ALSO because it’ll be one of the wines we serve at the very first, Ivy League Wine College, hosted by The Second Glass on Tuesday, June 24th 2008.
The 2006 Quinta de Ventozelo Vinzelo hails from Portugal’s Douro region, where grapes for the famous port wines are grown. This wine contains local grapes we can never remember the names of (Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca) but taste delicious.
We loved this wine last year and we love it again this year. It’s a light and very simple red wine that’s über versatile. Drink it with food, bring it to someone’s BBQ or grab a case and throw your own party. This wine will please both your palate and your wallet.
Pair with pizza, pasta or a brown bag and a sunset.
