Will Run for Wine!

I’m training for a half marathon - a healthy compliment to my wine drinking lifestyle, right? Well, the race is in 9 days and I’m slated to run 10 miles today. Having done most of my training on local trails, I’m a huge fan of getting my long runs in outside; the treadmill is boring, right? Right.
Well, looking out my window, I notice something startling considering it’s nearly April - it’s snowing! Now, Portland is known for its wacky Spring weather; sunny for an hour, then pouring rain, then sunny again, mix in a few dozen gusts of wind… you get the idea. But, snow!? Seriously? It’s clear I will be riding mass transit to the gym today to pound out those 10 miles. Okay, it’s good discipline, and I did just get that Nike chip for my ipod and shoes, which will coach me along the way… so at least I don’t have to stare at the mocking treadmill screen the whole time. But what’s a girl to think about while trying to ignore her aching legs over a period of an hour and a half? Well, this girl will think about wine. That may be a little strange, but I get my best thinking done while in motion! And, well… I really love wine! I write reviews, which I will share with you bi-weekly. Look for my first wine review for The Second Glass in early April.
Also, look for stories from my nights as wine hostess. I run private wine events in the incomparable wine cellar at the local gourmet grocery, where I work. I meet some amazing people, and drink phenomenal wines through my job. I also see some interesting interactions and endlessly entertaining human behavior - always a story worth telling by night’s end. Okay, I’m off to the gym; I’ll be thinking about my next post (okay, and that white Txakolina I will be drinking tonight with my Cioppino) as I trod along. For all those reading, I’d love some “Good Running Juju” and in return I’ll review a fantastically quirky wine for you all to hunt down soon!
To your health! Alaya
