masa1.jpegTyler chose the Spanish region for wine club this week. Not being very familiar with Spanish wines, I decided to do a little research. I discovered that it is the third largest wine producer in the world, after Italy and France of course. Although it may only be the third in production, it is known to have the largest wine growing area all around.

elcoto.JPGWhenever Tyler has spoken of Spanish wines he has always used the analogy that Rioja is the Bordeaux of Spain. What better way to begin to understand the Spanish wine culture, then to go out for dinner? So after “dragging” my friends to the South End, we decided to go to a place called MASA, which has been known for their $1 tapas. The atmosphere made me feel as though I had just flown across the world to Europe and was sitting in a Spanish restaurant. I chose a tempranillo from Rioja, called El Coto, and the duck as a main course. It was a perfect ending to my day and I felt as though I was one step closer to wine club, Friday night.
